Cabinet likely to be expanded today

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is all set to expand the Cabinet on Thursday, a source at Baluwatar said.

Prime Minister Oli is preparing to pick candidates from UML for state and assistant ministers while a few will be chosen from fringe parties as well.


According to a source, Dipak Bohara from RPP, Eknath Dhakal from Pariwar Dal, Prem Bahadur Singh from Samajbadi Janata Dal and Shiva Lal Thapa from Rastriya Janamukti Party Loktantrik are likely to get ministerial portfolios.

"We have been told that the Cabinet is likely to be expanded this evening and to get prepared accordingly," a leader, who is almost certain to become minister, told Republica.

Currently Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction and Ministry for Urban Development are without ministers while Shanta Manabi representing CPN-UML is a minister without portfolio.

According to Prime Minister's Press Advisor Pramod Dahal, a preparation is underway to pick state minister and assistant minister from CPN-UML. Those to be appointed will be administered oath of office and secrecy today evening itself.
