Businessman's murder alarms locals

PANCHTHAR, March 17: A businessman's murder has disturbed the locals of Fuyatappa - 5 in the district. 33-year-old Dinesh Regmi's dead body was recovered by police on Wednesday evening. As such incidences are rare in this part of the district locals now fear that the incidence could be an indication of growing criminal activities in the region.

"Such incidences are rare in this area and all of us are scared after this incident," said Urmila Rai of Fuyatappa - 5. "He was a simple commoner. And his heinous murder is simply unbelievable," she added.Regmi was into gold business and also ran a shop of mobile sets. According to the locals and the victim's family members, he went missing on Monday and his disappearance was reported to the police next day.

Police investigation had recovered his mobile phone set and motorbike on the very day. On the next day, police found his body around five kilometers away from the local market.

In its preliminary investigation report, police has claimed that the murder was well planned. "He was shot on head from the back. His legs were tied with rope. It's a planned murder," said DSP Krishna Prasad Koirala, chief of Nepal Police in Panchthar.

"It seems that the murder was done by some assassins from Tarai, but we are not sure about it," Koirala said adding that the investigation is going on.

His funeral was attended by a huge number of locals.
