Boxers to compete in Asian C'ship

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: A six-member Nepali boxing team, including four players, is leaving for Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday to participate in Asian Confederation Boxing Championship to be held there from August 26 to September 5.



Boxers Prem Chaudhary (52 kg), Dinesh Shrestha (56 kg), Deepak Shrestha (64 kg) and Ujjar Singh Thapa (75 kg) are the male players to compete in the event. All four players are the members of the national team preparation squad.

Chief coach of Nepal Boxing Association (NBA) Om Kumar Maskey is the coach and member of the association Rajesh Kumar Rauniyar is manager. The event will also serve as the qualifiers for the World Championship.


Nepal's coach Maskey said that the team's target was to earn medal in the Championship and he was very much hopeful from Prem and Dinesh in realizing the dream. NSC Vice President Lama Tendi Sherpa and Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista among other bade farewell to the team.
