Booketing, as its name says, is book-plus-ticketing concept. The idea behind the project is that every individual who wishes to participate in the documentary screening is supposed to donate a book which is the ticket to the show.[break]
The collected books are further taken to the library in a village.
This time around, the selected place for the library setup is Jeewan Jyoti School of Mana Kamana Village of Syangja District where more than 300 students are studying.
The documentary to be screened will mostly be related to sexual and reproductive rights (SRH) of young people. Also, every show will be followed by discussions.
This, according to the organizers, will not only contribute to the library establishment but will also be a sort of peer education to the youths regarding their SRH rights.

At the moment, the organizers are planning to donate a minimum of 1,000 books for children by September 2011.
The books they are collecting can be any among the course books of students up to Grade 12 and can also include general knowledge books, atlases, novels, storybooks, maps, globes, informative materials and even audio books.
This project has been initiated as the closing ceremony of the Global Youth Service Day (April 17) for which Yuwa was the national lead agency.
The main objective of this project, the organizers explain, is “to provide books and other reading materials to that student who doesn’t have access due to her geographical and financial constraints, thus addressing the intellectual need of students and by being helpful for the further enhancement of students’ knowledge.”
At present, the YUWA team is already energized by the overwhelming responses it has been getting. They claim to have collected around 400 books already.
“We’ve screened the documentary “Pooja” dealing with the subject of the death of a pregnant girl due to early marriage,” said YUWA President Ajay Kumar Upreeti.
The documentary has been screened at two schools, Shanti Vaidya School, and Loyola Higher Secondary School.
YUWA urges those who are willing to support the initiative to donate books.
Those interested can contact YUVA at their office at Min Bhawan, or call them at 01-4487743 or drop in an email at info@yuwa.org.np.
