KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Baneshwor--the heart of the capital city Kathmandu-- has descended into chaos as protests led by the younger generation escalated into violent confrontations on Monday. Despite the government’s imposition of a curfew, defiant crowds of Gen Z protesters continued to occupy the streets, chanting slogans and challenging security forces.
The tense standoff has transformed Baneshwor—home to Nepal’s federal parliament—into a flashpoint of unrest. Police have resorted to firing rubber bullets and deploying water cannons, while baton charges have been carried out to disperse the crowds.

The government has deployed a heavy security presence, including personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force, underscoring the severity of the situation.
