Baidya leaving for China Sunday

KATHMANDU, July 14: Chairman of the newly-formed CPN-Maoist Mohan Baidya is leaving for Beijing on Sunday on a 10-day official visit to the northern neighbor.



According to Central Committee member of the party Maheshwor Dahal, Baidya will be accompanied by the party´s politburo member Indra Mohan Sigdel. [break]



This is the first foreign visit of Baidya after the formal split of UCPN (Maoist). Dahal said the visit aims at strengthening party-to party relations and enhancing bilateral relations between Nepal and China.



"This is a formal visit as the party chairman is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese Communist Party Vice Chairman Ai Ping," he said. During his visit to Nepal in the first week of July, Chinese leader Ai had extended an invitation to Baidya to visit China.
