LAHAN, Jan 21: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato have held telephone talks before the top-level meeting held at the prime minister's residence on Thursday morning.

Talking over telephone, leader Mahato who is taking rest due to high blood pressure at Room No. 188 of Lahan-based Maruti Hotel, said, "The meeting point of the proposal on the amendment bill to the new constitution should be in favor of the peaceful Madhes movement."

Even though the high-level meeting focused on endorsing those amendment proposals that would address the UDMF's demands to the maximum, the meeting could not strike any deals.

Mahato informed that the prime minister and Dahal assured him of addressing the Madhesi demands in line with the spirit of the Madhes movement.

The telephone talks with Mahato was held in an attempt to find a compromising point between the three major parties and the dissenting Madhesi parties prior to endorsing the Constitution Amendment Bill on January 23.
