Action against 4,000 vehicles during Dashain

BUTWAL, Oct 29: The Western Regional Traffic Police Office, Butwal, has taken action on about 4,000 vehicles for violating traffic rules during the Dashain festival period in the district under it.



The police raised revenue of Rs. 700,000 from the vehicles in the period.[break]



Some 3,935 vehicles were taken action in the 16 districts of the region, the office said.



Rs. 694, 600 was raised as fines from the vehicles in the action. The police had observed special scrutiny along the East -West Highway, Siddhartha Highway, Prithvi Highway and other district roads from October 21- 27 on drivers.



Action was also taken on 1,277 trucks for violation of Vehicle Act and Rs. 215,250 was raised from them, said Assistant Police Inspector of the Office, Gyanu Pandey.



Traffic police also took action on drivers running vehicles by consuming alcohol, in which 64 drivers were taken action, he said.
