Shristi Shrestha, since winning the Miss Nepal title in 2012, has established herself as one of most sought after models in Nepal. Fashion shows, music videos, advertisements…she’s dabbled in all thing showbiz. While she debuted in theater this year as Ojaswi (Ophelia) in the Nepali adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet,’ which is currently being staged at Theatre Village in Lazimpat, her film debut opposite Anmol KC, ‘Gajalu,’ is all set to release on June 3 this year.

She loves learning and speaking foreign languages

Born in Chitwan, Nepal, and brought up in London, UK, this beauty queen has often been criticized for her weakness in Nepali, and she accepts her shortcoming. “I love Nepali language and I’ve been taking classes to improve my vocabulary and diction,” she says. Her love for language doesn’t end here. Though not very fluent, Shristi can communicate in Dutch and Spanish, and continues to hone her language skills.

Dancing is her fitness mantra

That’s right. Dancing is what keeps her healthy and fit. “I take dancing classes in the morning instead of hitting the gym because while it’s fun to learn the different dance steps, it helps to work out my body at the same time. I feel light when I dance, and I’m glad it keeps me fit,” she shares. She switches between different forms of dances ranging from hip-hop to contemporary.

She prefers nature over luxury while traveling

She might be the brand ambassador to expensive and luxurious lodges and hotels, but when it comes to traveling, she loves getting her shoes dirty. “When I decide to travel, it’s mostly with the aim to be close to nature—to feel it, understand it. I set off with my backpack as and when I have free day(s) ahead of me. I love to explore nature and I don’t mind getting my clothes or shoes dirty in the process. It works as therapy to me,” she shares.

She’s highly sensitive

This bold belle admits to having a soft heart. “I’m highly sensitive and even a little thing can upset me,” she says. Shristi especially gets distressed at the sight of street children. “They make me contemplate the meaning of life and all the privileges the rest of us had and have as children. Children are not supposed to be living on the streets. It’s really upsetting, and I can’t do much to help them, either. I feel so helpless,” she sighs.

Reading gives her peace of mind

She might not have much time to spend reading a book, but that hasn’t taken away her love for books. Shristi loves reading all sorts of books and doesn’t have a favorite genre. She makes sure she carries at least one book when she sets off to travel, especially if it’s a long journey ahead. “Reading gives me peace of mind,” she shares.
