KATHMANDU, April 26: A total of 14 candidates have registered their candidature for the post of mayor of Tokha Municipality for the local level poll scheduled for May 13.
Tokha Municipal Election Officer Sabita Sharma said that there are 251 candidates including candidates for the post of the mayor and deputy mayor. According to her, there are six candidates for the post of deputy mayor and 58 for the post of ward chairpersons.

Similarly, there are 97 candidates for the post of ward members - 44 in the women’s category and 32 in the Dalit women category, according to Sharma. In the local level election held in 2074 BS in Tokha of the northern region of Kathmandu, Prakash Adhikari was elected the mayor and Gyan Maya Dangol the deputy mayor - both represented the CPN-UML.
At present, the CPN-UML has fielded Adhikari and Dangol as its candidate for the post of mayor and deputy mayor respectively, while Rajni Thapa and Murari Tamang have been nominated for the post of mayor and deputy mayor respectively by the Nepali Congress.
