1,000 households in Myagdi at high risk of landslip

MYAGDI, May 27: As many as 1,000 households in 14 VDCs of Myagdi are reeling under high risk due to April 25 earthquake and recurring aftershocks.

According to a study carried out by the District Soil Conservation Office, more than 1,000 households of Gurja, Mudi, Lulang, Begkhola, Niskot, Patlekhet, Bhurungtatopani, Narchyang, Kuinemangale, Pulachaur, Okharbot, Pakhapani, Bhakimli and Barangja VDCs are passing through a vulnerable condition triggered by landslide following the tremblers.


Soil Conservation Officer Deewakar Poudel said locals here have to keep high alert keeping in mind the occurrence of landslide before the onset of monsoon. The preparedness is the only way to reduce possible human and physical loss in the high risk area of landslide, he said, adding awareness drive has been put in place in the localities to avert risks.
