A meeting of the party’s central disciplinary commission on Tuesday decided to relieve him of all responsibilities in the party.[break]
“His acts has embarrassed and saddened the party. We decided to suspend him so as to prevent the party’s image from being tarnished,” Amrit Bohara, chief of the party’s disciplinary commission, told Republica. He said the party will further action if needed after the state agencies, which are investigating into his involvement in the scam, come up with a conclusion.
Another UML lawmaker DB Karki was suspended by the party and parliament a few months ago for accepting bribes.
The police on Monday also accused Shivpujan Raya, a lawmaker from Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) a fugitive, of involvement in the scam.
Also, lawmakers BP Yadav of MPRF and Gayatri Sah of Nepali Janta Dal were suspended for their alleged involvement in the red passport scam earlier.
