Former Nepal champion Navin Tandukar finished in the second position with 4.5 points after the fifth round. FIDE master Manish Hamal, who also accumulated equal 4.5 points to Tandukar, is on the third position.
Tandukar played a draw with Purushottam Chaulagain in the fourth round and won the fifth round match against Prem Krishna Maharjan.
Hamal played a draw against Madan Krishna Kayastha in the fourth round and defeated Nepal champion Badri Lal Nepali in the fifth round.
With four points, Rajendra Prashad Shrestha, Sujendra Prashad Shrestha, Rajan Puri, Krishna Thapa, Lekh Bahadur Thapamagar, Surbir Lama and Ganesh Man Duwal finished respectively in the fourth to the 10th positions.
Badri Lal Nepali, Prem Krishna Shrestha, Madan Krishna Kayastha, Bikash Kuluju and Purushottam Chaulagain have gained 3.5 points from five games.
