Special Court acquits former DG of Department of Irrigation Rajbhandari in corruption case

KATHMANDU, July 9: Former Director General of Department of Irrigation Madhukar Prasad Rajbhandari has been acquitted in the corruption case. The Special Court cleared Rajbhandari and his wife, Dipa Shrestha, of all charges of corruption on Monday.

The bench, comprising Special Committee Chairperson Teknarayan Kunwar and members Tejnarayan Singh Rai and Ritendra Thapa, acquitted them.


The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case a year ago on charges of amassing illegal wealth while holding a government position. The CIAA claimed that out of the total assets amounting to Rs 74.23 million, the source of only Rs 38.56 million could be accounted for.
