The OPMCM, in a letter dispatched to the ministers, has asked them to specify details of the proposed trips. “We asked them to furnish details to judge if the proposed trips are urgent,” the source said requesting anonymity. “Unless they can show that the proposed trips are urgent, we won´t accept the proposal,” the source added.
The ministers have claimed that the proposed trips are “official” and are part of regular inspection from the ministries.
“It is not morally right for caretaker ministers to either inspect the offices under their respective ministries or instruct the government staffs under any pretext,” the source said, adding, “We have therefore asked them to be specific about the purpose of their proposed trips.”
The OPMCM officials also claimed to have received information that the ministers have been planning personal trips.
Deputy Prime Ministers Sujata Koirala and Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar; ministers* Purna Kumar Sherma, Umakanta Chaudhary, Minendra Rijal and Aftab Alam; and state* ministers Man Bahadur Shahi, Ganesh Bahadur Khadka, Dilli Bahadur Mahat, Shatrughan Prasad Singh Koiri, Sanjaya Kumar Sah, among others, had submitted proposal to the OPMCM seeking funds for domestic trips.
The OPMCM has also decided not to accept any proposals submitted by the personal secretaries of respective ministers for such trips.
