Measles death toll reaches five in Rupandehi

BUTWAL, May 14: Five children have died due to measles that has broken out at Karauta Village in Rupandehi district.



According to the District Public Health Office, the latest victim of the measles outbreak is four-year-old Niraj Harijan of Karauta VDC-9. Condition of another child, Durgesh Kebat, 4, of Karauta VDC-7 is said to be serious after catching measles and he has been hospitalized in Bhairahawa.[break]



Before this, four infants at Karauta VDC-3 died due to measles. It is said as many as 65 children in Karauta VDC have fallen ill due to measles. They are being treated by a team of doctors from the District Public Health Office.
