Kripashur Sherpa likely to be new tourism minister

KATHMANDU, May 22: CPN-UML leader Kripashur Sherpa is likely to be appointed as new tourism minister.

According to a highly placed source at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the cabinet meeting to be held later in the evening will appoint Sherpa as new tourism minister.


Sherpa, who is close to UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, had been elected to the Constituent Assembly from Bhojpur-1.

The portfolio was vacant after Dipak Chandra Amatya resigned as tourism minister yesterday.

Sherpa will be the third tourism minister in the Shushil Koirala-led government.


Earlier, Bhim Acharya had been sacked while Amatya had been forced to resign by his party.
