BIRGUNJ, Dec 29: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala refused to comment on the Supreme Court (SC)´s decision on the review of its verdict on the extension of the Constituent Assembly term.

“NC is a party that respects the rule of law, thus I don’t want to comment on this,” he said at the Simra airport replying to a query by a journalist.[break]

The apex court on November 25 had issued a verdict that the six-month CA term extension on November 31 would be its last. Just a couple days ago, the SC had turned down the petitions by the government and the Parliament Secretariat, seeking a review of the verdict.

Koirala arrived Birgunj on Thursday to inaugurate the second central council meeting of the Telecom Workers Union.

NC President Koirala also added that the new constitution would be drafted in time if Maoists remain logically supportive to resolve the disputed issues. He also said that NC-led government would be formed immediately after the completion of the peace process.

"It is not important who from our party will lead the government. What is important is, the Congress would lead the government,” he said replying to a question on NC’s claim to the premiership.
