With Nepal's Ambassador to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyay, at his residence at 7 Race Course in New Delhi Friday, Indian PM Modi said he was expecting Nepal's proposal on Indian assistance.
In a telephone conversation with the National News Agency (RSS), Ambassador Upadhyay said, "The Indian PM said India was ready to help Nepal openheartedly for resettlement and reconstruction."
On the occasion, Ambassador Upadhyay informed Indian PM that Nepal would present the assistance proposal to India after the National Planning Commission presents reconstruction proposal to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on June 5.
The Indian PM reminded the catastrophic earthquake occurred in Gujarat when he was the Chief Minister some 14 years back. He felt different in Nepal's quake, as Gujrat had witnessed 1,200 aftershocks on the very day the main shock occurred, but Nepal felt fewer.
Ambassador Upadhyay further said the Indian PM was very sympathetic and worried about Nepal.
As the discussion centered on the damages by earthquakes in Nepal, political issues did not surfaced, he said, adding that he, on behalf of Nepal government, extended gratitude to Modi, for his government helped a lot to Nepal's quake victims.
He further told RSS that he made it clear to Indian PM about the negative comments on India and urged not be perturbed at all.
Earlier, Ambassador Upadhyay met with Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh among 10 different ministers of the central government, New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan including social activists and discussed the losses incurred in the earthquake and the support lent by India in the aftermath.
Upadhyay, who was accredited as the Nepali Ambassador to India only a few months ago, has intensified high level meetings.
