Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae on Monday held a meeting with UDMF leaders and suggested that they reach an agreement as soon as possible."There was a meeting today," Indian Embassy Spokesperson Ruby Jaspreet Sharma added," However, I am not aware with the details of the meeting."
Rae even 'warned' the UDMF leaders stating that India cannot further support the latter's demands for long now, sources claimed.
The prolonged protests will further widen the differences and will bring more sufferings to people, the source quoted ambassador as saying.
"We have been suggested to move ahead through consensus," Mahendra Rae, a UDMF leader, said about the meeting. "We are also for ending the crisis as soon as possible."
"More than 60 percentage of Tarai population has endorsed the new constitution," source quoted Rae as saying to UDMF leaders, "We can't keep on supporting your demands. Please find a common solution soon."
The Indian ambassador also suggested the UDMF leaders to strike a deal as the government has already decided to form a commission to address the demarcation of provinces issues.
UDMF leaders Upendra Yadav, Mahanta Thakur, Mahendra Rae and Laxman Lal Karna had called on the Indian ambassador today.
