Reading out budget speech, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun said the government has allocated Rs 3 billion each for the November 22 elections and for the army directorate to be set up after the integration of former Maoist combatants. [break]
Likewise, Rs 3.69 billion will be spent on voluntary retirement of former PLA combatants, Minister Pun said in a live telecast speech from the National Planning Commission hall in the capita this afternoon.
He said the government will continue its three-pillar economic polity that emphasizes on public-private-cooperative partnership and will remain active to create investment friendly environment in the country.
It will also give continuity to ongoing programs, including those in fields of heath, education, road construction and drinking water, and will set up a complementary fund for smooth operation of development projected being run on foreign assistance, he added.
Pun said the national economy witnessed growth of GDP by 4.9 per cent in agriculture sector and 4.3 per cent in non-agriculture sector during the first eight months of the ongoing fiscal year, the highest in the past three years.
During the first 11 months of this fiscal year, the export-import ratio has increased by 16 per cent and the country has balance of payment (BoP) of Rs 113.2 billion, the highest till now, the minister said.
Stating that the government had always wanted to bring a full-fledged budget, the minister expressed his optimism that the government´s compromise for one-third budget would serve as an initiative for consensus building among political parties.
