GULMI, Feb 22: Flights at Resunga Airport will now operate only three times a week. Nepal Airlines Corporation has revised its previous Thursday flight schedule for Gulmi.
Earlier, Nepal Airlines operated four weekly flights on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Following the change, flights will now operate only on Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday, according to Resunga Airport Station Chief Suman Thapa.
NAC revises Gulmi flight schedule to once per week
Nepal Airlines currently has only three Twin Otter aircraft, which require periodic maintenance. Due to aircraft shortage, the corporation has temporarily revised its regular schedule. Except during monsoon, bad weather, and dense fog, flights at Resunga Airport have operated regularly over the past three months.
Nepal Airlines operates 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft, with flights departing Kathmandu at 6:30 am and Resunga at 7:30 am. The fare is set at Rs 7,500 from Kathmandu to Gulmi and Rs 7,300 from Gulmi to Kathmandu. Due to strong afternoon winds, flights are operated only in the morning for technical safety reasons.
Since the launch of air services in the district, both domestic and international tourist arrivals have increased. Previously, residents had to endure an 18-hour journey to reach the capital, but air travel now enables travel between Gulmi and Kathmandu in just 45 minutes.
Passenger demand for air services has risen recently. However, despite increased demand, the limited number of flights and frequent schedule changes have caused inconvenience for residents. Nepal Airlines began commercial flight operations in the district on May 12, 2023.
