Fishtail aircraft skids off runaway

POKHARA, Jan 12: A Fishtail Air chopper that flew from Kathmandu for rescuing a tourist met with an accident at Thorangphedi of Manang district at 3:45 pm Thursday.



There was no human casualty in the accident, according to Manang District Administration Office. [break]



Dayaram Shrestha, assistant chief district officer of Manang, said the 9NAJI chopper had gone to the district to rescue William Biseri, an Australian national, who has a shoulder fracture.



“The chopper slipped and hit a rock while trying to take off with the sick tourist,” Shrestha said.



“The chopper´s tail rotor has been damaged.” The chopper is still in Thorangphedi. Shrestha cited snowfall and dense fog as the reasons behind the accident.
