Syakar Trading - the authorized distributor of Honda bikes -- recently introduced Honda CBR 1000 RR in the new market. “We have introduced the new bike in a bid to broaden choices for the ´big´ bike lovers,” said Rajan Raj Puri, import and sales administrator of Honda.
Syakar has already been selling CBR 100 R, CBR 600 RR, CB600F Hornet, Tornado XR250R XR150R Bros and CBR 250R. The prices of big bikes from Honda start from Rs 450,000 (for CBR 250) and goes as high as Rs 2.6 million (for CBR 1000 RR).
“We are providing cash discounts of Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 this festive season,” Puri added.
Likewise, MAW Enterprises that represents Yamaha in Nepal has promised ´special discount´ for buyers during Dashain and Tihar. MAW is selling Yamaha XJ6 and YZF-R6 under big bike category.
According to the distributors, the big bikes come with advanced technology and deliver better performance and top speed. These bikes are popular for racing and stunt shows across the world, but lately they have been drawing attention of ´elite youths´ in Nepal as well.
“A segment of youth belonging to high-income families´ show special liking to these bikes,” said Khatri. However, she admitted that her company has not sold even a single unit of the newly introduced models.
Other distributors also said they have been introduced such bikes solely with a view to provide information about them to the customers, rather than focusing on sales.
“We have received many inquiries for different models of big bikes. Hopefully, we will be able to sell some this Dashain,” said Puri.
Suraj Manadhar, deputy general manager of Yamaha Division at MAW, said more people were placing enquiries on big bikes in recent period.
“Potential customers of all age groups have enquired about the bikes. Hence, we have decided to provide special discounts to those buying big bikes this festive season,” he said.
