HUMLA, Oct 10: At least 11 people were injured in a jeep accident near Piplang in Chankheli Rural Municipality, Humla, on Friday.
Of the 12 people travelling in the jeep, 11 sustained injuries, according to Police Inspector Janga Bahadur Singh, Information Officer at the Humla District Police Office. The accident occurred when the jeep (Karnali Province 02001 Cha 1091), en route to Piplang from Melchham in the same rural municipality, plunged about 300 metres off the road.
The injured have been identified as Bimala Budha, 14; Dipendra Singh, 24; Anupam Rokaya, 8; Divans Budha, 2, of Chankheli-6; Jagrit Rokaya, 4; Manbir Budha, 29; Mahendra Rokaya, 36; and Basanti Rokaya, 29, of Simkot-8; along with Parbati Siraka, 26; Hans Lama, 24; Kailash Siraka, 29; and Bahadur Lama, 29, of the same rural municipality.
Some of the injured are receiving treatment at local health posts, while preparations are underway to airlift others to different locations for further treatment, said Tika Upadhyay, chief of the Education, Youth and Sports Section of the rural municipality.
