The main event of the tournament will conclude on Friday after playing 54 holes. However, the tournament will conclude with the amateur golfers teaming up with the pros in the Pro-Am event on Saturday. [break]
The tournament is the eighth tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2011-12 and is organized by Nepal Professional Golfers Association and sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd.
Altogether, 29 pros including six local professionals will take part in the main event while 24 amateurs will also vie in the event. On the other hand, 15 pros and 45 amateurs have registered their name for the Pro-Am event sponsored by Yeti Airlines.
The event carries a total purse of Rs 425,000 and the winner will take home Rs 80,000. The runner-up will bag Rs 50,000. Others in the top 20 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
According to Nepal PGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya, top professional and amateur golfers of the country have already reached Dharan and are getting acclimatized with the playing conditions of the Nirvana Country Club in the Ghopa Camp.
