BP Highway project obstructed

KATHMANDU, May 15: Construction works along the third segment of BP Highway has been obstructed after a group of people seized the keys of equipments from Gajuldaha in Sindhuli district.



The group reportedly led by one Sujin Lama had recently stormed the base office of Hazma-Ando Consortium and run off with 21 keys of heavy equipments, trippers and vehicles.



“There has been no work since the keys were taken away,” said Bindu Shamsher Rana, chief of Banepa-Sindhuli-Bardibas Road Project. Hazma-Ando Consortium started constructing the 37 km segment three months ago.



Earlier, locals had obstructed construction works at Khurkot base in March demanding employment for them.



According to officials, the two-year goal of completing the segment is unlikely to be met due to frequent obstructions.
