KATHMANDU, A group of youths gathered at Maitighar in Kathmandu to exert pressure on the government to provide justice to the family of Bhagarathi Bhatta on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Police have handed an arrest warrant to Ram Kumari Jhakri after the cadres of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party protested against the government for sending police to arrest her without an arrest warrant.

Girl abducted and raped in Morang

MORANG, Feb 11: A 14-year-old girl of Jahada Rural Municipality-1 was abducted and raped by two youths when she was going to the toilet at night.

KATHMANDu, Feb 11: The Department of Immigration had proposed a brutal policy against women's independent movement -- requiring permit letters from their male counterpart or the head of the family as well as the ward office in order to travel abroad alone unless they are over 40 -- has made some amendments owing to public pressure. The amendments in the Immigration Procedures (no blanket restriction on women's free movement, but this narrowed down to the same age of women heading to the Gulf countries for the first time) have not received praise, the policy makers sound too complacent to make further changes.

DHANGADI, Feb 11: Bhagarathi Bhatta, 17, from Chadepani of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7, was raped and murdered last Wednesday. Her dead body was found the next day some 50 meters below the road in a community jungle. Even a week after the tragedy, the police have not been able to identify those involved in the crime.
