Govt, private sector take initiatives for daily Dhaka-Pokhara flights

A senior CAAN officer stated, “We aim to launch flights between Dhaka and Pokhara within two months, starting with at least one flight per week.” Both Air Astra and Bangladesh Airlines have shown interest, with a study underway to assess the potential business on the Pokhara-Dhaka route.
Bheri-Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project completes 40% work

SURKHET, Feb 22: The National Pride Project, Bheri-Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project has completed 40% of the construction work. The construction project was started from 2004 to divert the water of Bheri River to Babai and provide irrigation facility to 52,000 hectares of land of Banke and Bardiya districts and also produce 48-megawatt electricity. The construction of the 12.2 kilometers long tunnel was constructed with the use of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for the first time in Nepal. Under the second package of the project, the dam and powerhouse will be constructed.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: The price of gold has hit a new record of Rs 78,100 per tola (11.664 grams) in the domestic market on Friday. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FENEGOSIDA), which fixes the price of the yellow metal in the local market, gold price went up by Rs 500 per tola in a day. The yellow metal was traded at Rs 77, 600 per tola on Thursday.
Nepse hits 2-year high after week's broad surge

KATHMANDU: Nepali stocks saw one of its best weeks as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed in green in all five trading sessions. Upbeat trading was visible from the very beginning as Sunday was marked by a gain of over 19 points. Subsequently, the index shot up by over 34 points on Monday followed by a slightly subdued trading on Tuesday where the index added modest 2 points. Nonetheless, the index stretched its gaining streak in the remaining trading sessions with advances of 5 points and 29 points on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Consequently, the week's gain totaled to 89.98 points or 6.69% as Nepse ended at 1,434.58 points.
