Purbanchal University to become educational hub: PM Oli

Itahari, June 10: Prime Minister and Purbanchal University Chancellor, KP Sharma Oli, has asserted that the Gothgaun area – where the varsity's central office is located – will now be developed as a centre of Nepali education.  The PM made the comment during a felicitations programme held at Sundardulari Municipality Gothgaun Northern Central Office by the Purbanchal University on late Thursday evening.

Pathari (Morang), June 10: The solar powered lights were distributed among poverty-stricken communities here in Mahadeva VDC in southern tip of Morang district on Thursday.  The District Development Committee-Morang, Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation and Consumers' Committee jointly distributed the solar lights to communities in the backburner.

Zonal hospital to get oxygen plant

Dang, June 10: The construction of an oxygen plant has started at Rapti Zonal Hospital at Tulsipur with an aim to supply necessary oxygen system needed for the medical purposes.  The preparation to set up an oxygen plant at a government run zonal hospital is first of its kind in Nepal. The government extended financial support of Rs 12.5 million for construction of the plant, the hospital said.

KATHMANDU, June 9: General strike enforcers have vandalized the vehicles in different places in the capital today.  Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist has enforced the general strike across the country today. As per the information received so far, protesters have vandalized a taxi (Ba 1 Ja 2206) at Tinkune, a micro bus at Manmaiju, a Sajha bus each at Tripureshwar and in front of Tribhuvan International Airport and a night bus at Kalanki in the capital, police informed.

KATHMANDU, June 9: The banda organizers have torched a taxi here in Koteshwore on Thursday morning. CPN-Maoists led by Netra Bikram Chand had called a nationwide banda (strike) today.  According to SSP Sushil Bhandari, the assailants torched the taxi,Ba 1 Jha 8206, stopping it on mid-way minutes after they got in. They had hired it to go to Kalanki from Koteshwor.

Conflict victims in Dailkeh district whose family members were killed, injured or made to disappear during the insurgency era are yet to file complaints at the TRC.
