Many valley brick kilns still employ children

KATHMANDU, June 12: A new study has said around 27 percent of children who are working as child laborers at brick kilns in Kathmandu valley are being deprived of their right to attend schools.

JUMLA, June 12: About a week ago, locals of Chandannath Municipality-13 in Jumla district chased down and badly wounded a barking deer that had wandered into their village from a nearby forest in search of water. The animal was saved from death only after the locals of neighboring Chandannath VDC-14 intervened and informed the District Forest Office (DFO), Jumla.

Midnight flash flood inundates Beni Bazaar

BABIYACHAUR (MYAGDI), June 12: A flash flood which struck on Saturday night at Beni Bazaar caused damages to more than a hundred houses and retail shops while forcing the residents to stay awake all night.  The flood cascading from a higher ground above the settlement at 11 pm inundated the houses in Campus Chowk and Mangal Ghat. The flood laden with slush and stones broke into the houses.
