KATHMANDU, July 12: Regular traffic on the Araniko and BP highways, which had been blocked at various places, resumed today.

The under-construction Arniko highway's Dhulikhel-Khawa section had been blocked for the past two days due to landslides. Landslides occurred on the Dhulikhel-Khawa section and vehicles were abandoned at Ledo due to rain. Regular traffic has been operating since this morning after the landslide debris near Khawa was removed, the stranded vehicles were cleared, and the potholes were filled yesterday.

Vehicular traffic has been restored by clearing the landslide debris on the Roshi-Mangaltar section of the BP highway, which had been obstructed since this morning. Locals say that the journey on this road section has become a challenge due to continuous downpours. Dinesh Lama, the chairperson of Roshi Rural Municipality, said the highway was obstructed due to the flooding in the Mamti stream.

According to the District Police Office, Kavre, excavators are on standby to immediately remove any small landslide that may occur at various locations on the Araniko and BP highways.

The District Administration Office banned the operation of cargo vehicles and tippers for an indefinite time from Wednesday on the road section of the under-construction Arniko Highway.
