Seti Ram Sunar, Khim Bahadur Wali and Hira Bahadur Sunar, who were injured in the clash, are undergoing treatment at Mid-West Regional Hospital.
“We held hours-long discussion to settle the dispute and agreed to resolve the issue,” said injured Wali, who is also a teacher, adding, “But, after sometime, a group of around 12 youths wielding rods, knives and sticks suddenly attacked us.” According to him, they attacked Sunar at a public place in a planned manner.
Issuing a press statement, YCL district chairman Navin Rana has demanded action against the guilty and relief to the bereaved family. He said they wouldn´t stop protests until the assailants are brought to book.
The Maoists have accused Janak Budha, Bir Bahadur Khatri, Chopendra Rakhal, Upendra Pun and Dal Bahadur Gharti of involvement in the murder. However, all the accused have been absconding, said the police.
Meanwhile, the Maoists have handed Shashi Khatri, a UML cadre, over to the police accusing his involvement in the attack.
However, local YF leaders have denied the allegations. “It is purely a dispute between two persons. YCL members are trying to politicize the matter unnecessarily,” Ekraj Sharma of YF said. He accused YCL members of killing their own comrade for personal benefit.
