YCL withdraws Surkhet banda

SURKHET, March 2: The indefinite Surkhet banda called by the Unified CPN (Maoist) and its youth wing Young Communist League to protest the murder of its cadre has been withdrawn till March 12.



The Maoist withdrew the strike in view of International Folk Culture and Tourism Mahotsav that Surkhet is hosting. [break]



Life became normal from the Tuesday early morning after markets, transport movement and educational institutions reopened.



All-party talks held at the District Administration Office ended inconclusively. But the protesting Maoist leaders and activists agreed to life the strike temporarily to made the Mahotsav successful.



Stating that the bandh was withdrawn just for the international-level fair, Maoists have warned that they would launch a stern agitation if their demands were not fulfilled by March 12.



YCL area committee member Asha Ram Bishwokarma was murdered on Sunday night at Sahare VDC.
