KATHMANDU, May 12: A writ petition against the appointment of former chief secretary Lokman Singh Karki as chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), has been finally registered at Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday.

Advocate Om Prakash Aryal filed the writ which was refused to register earlier on last Monday by SC Registrar Lohit Chandra Shah.

Aryal filed the writ today as per the Friday´s order of a single bench of Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Shah to annul the rejection order passed by Shah. [break]

Earlier on Tuesday, Aryal had filed an application challenging against the apex court´s refusal to register the writ petition.

In the petition, Aryal has claimed the CC’s decision to recommend Kark as CIAA chief lacks due process.

The writ petitioner has also argued that Karki is not competent for the post as he lacks the required experience of 20 years. He maintained in the writ that the CC move is also against the 11-point agreement which states that the Interim Election Council, which has been formed only to hold fresh polls, will not take any decision that will have long-term impact.

The writ petitioner has also urged the SC to issue an order that no individual who is found to be involved in suppressing a mass movement or in human rights violation, will be eligible to hold a public post in future.
