We expect strong sales for the Galaxy S6

Samsung Nepal Office, on Thursday launched the long awaited flagship phone of Samsung, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge into the Nepali market. To mark this occasion, Sujan Dhungana of Republica spoke with Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, HHP Division Head of Samsung Nepal Office, on Samsung's position in Nepal's market as well as possible challenges the company faces. Excerpts:

What are your expectations with the launch of Samsung's flagship phone in Nepal?Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are the first of its kind in the way it incorporates state-of-the-art features and technology. Samsung is already the most popular brand in Nepal's mobile market place. We intend to increase our market share with these two new phones.

Dozens of other mobile brands, including the iPhone offer stiff competition for Samsung. How does Samsung plan to maintain its dominance and its brand loyalty?

Samsung mobile phones have already acquired a high degree of brand loyalty. Our services and products are customer orientated, helping us to gain the trust of our customers. Additionally, the features of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are comparatively better than any currently available phone in the market, including the iPhone 6.

However, we seek to further reward our customers by providing improved services and products. We will also expand our network so that customers get our services in a timely and efficient manner.

How has Samsung's S-series done so far? What are sales target for Galaxy S6?

We have received a positive reception for our S-series mobile phones in Nepal and we expect to continue this with the launch of these two flagship phones. Our S-series phones are consumer orientated in terms of quality, price and features. As with the global market, this has set a standard of quality other phones strive to attain.

We expect strong sales of Galaxy S6. We have already received 350 pre-release orders for the phone. We believe that demand of Galaxy S6 in Nepal will be much higher, perhaps up to four times, of what we had for the Galaxy S5. It could, I believe, be a challenging job for us to meet this demand of the Galaxy S6.

Are there any launching offers/schemes in these flagship phones?

We have a number of attractive offers. Partnering with Ncell for voice and data, we are offering customers of both phones 1GB data for free every month for six months. Customers will also get 300 minutes of free talk time for the duration of six months.
