Two secretaries were arrested for attempting to award Nepali citizenship certificate to a foreign national while the next was held for submitting details of daughter-in-law saying as daughter. [break]
Former secretary of Surya Mati VDC, Hari Uprety, and incumbent secretary of the same VDC, Narayan Prasad Kandel, and secretary of Taruka VDC, Ram Hari Khanal, were arrested, said the police.
Police Inspector, Nabaraj Malla, said a case has been lodged in the district court by demanding action as per Citizenship Act-2063 against the arrestees.
Secretaries Uprety and Kandel had submitted the fake details to provide the citizenship certificate to the 22-year-old Chhungta Tamang while Khanal had recommended for Laxmi Budhamagar of Rukum district to get citizenship certificate by establishing bogus father-daughter relationship with Kul Bahadur Dhungana, 60, of Taruka VDC.
