KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested three persons including a section officer of Land Revenue Office for their alleged involvement in forgery of valuable land in Bhandara of Chitwan district.
The three hatched a plot to sell the land of a local without his knowledge by posing as the land owners themselves. They were found to have sold a property located in Chitwan district at an undervalued price to a company--Natural Flower and Herbal Pvt Ltd based in Makwanpur.
According to CIB, the arrested have been identified as Devendra Thapa, 40, of Itahara VDC-3 of Morang district, Nagendra Karki, 46, of Gaurigunj VDC-5 of Jhapa district both arrested from Itahari of Sunsari district on December 15. Similarly, Section Officer Min Bahadur Bhattarai, 34, of Khalle-7 of Khotang district was arrested from Lagankhel of Lalitpur district on December 21.
CIB Director DIG Nawaraj Silwal said that the two, with the help of section officer, had sold a plot of land belonging to Lokendra Raj Pathak in Bhandara VDC-2 of Chitwan district projecting themselves as the real owners.
Police said that Thapa and Karki produced fake documents while registering the details of the land at the Land Revenue Office, Dillibazar on March 12, 2010.
Ten days after registering the land in Kathmandu, the racket sold the land to the herbal company in Makawanpur at Rs 4.95 million. After the real landlord Lokendra noticed that he was victimized by the racket, he had filed a case at the Chitwan District Court and also reported the incidents to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu; Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against the fraudsters.
