The CPN-UML will now have the following 18 departments: organization, publicity, party school, foreign affairs, state affairs, finance planning and research, natural resource management, agriculture and land reform, cooperative, industry-business and labor relation, local development and physical infrastructure, education and human resource development, health population and environment, federal affairs, law and election, parliamentary board, finance, and social security department.

The number of departments was reduced with a view to giving more focus on other organs based on geography namely zonal and district committees, said a UML leader.

In the meeting, party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal briefing the central committee members on latest political developments and told that the party had no division as projected in the public.

"On cabinet expansion, there is a stalemate due to differences over power-sharing with the Nepali Congress," CC member Ghanashyam Bhusal quoted Khanal as saying, adding, "We can send UML´s team immediately once we reach a deal with the NC and other coalition partners on portfolio sharing."

According to him, the cabinet expansion will take place within a day or two.

The meeting urged the government to immediately start dialogue, through diplomatic channels, with India regarding "border encroachment" along the Nepal-India boundary.

The meeting urged Unified CPN (Maoist) and other political parties to jointly work together on resolving national challenges.
