The departments are similar to that adopted by the ´shadow government´ formed by the party under the leadership of Dr Baburam Bhattarai during the insurgency period.[break]
Six department heads of the party are former ministers. Those who were ministers in the past have been appointed as heads of the departments that have similar nature to the ministries they headed when they were ministers.
According to party spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma, Baidya is chief of the party´s school department and Post Bahadur Bogati is chief of the discipline department. Likewise, Dr Bhattarai is chief of the Joint National People´s Movement.
Standing committee members Dev Gurung, Barshaman Pun, Amik Sherchan, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lila Mani Pokharel and Giriraj Mani Pokharel will head ethnic and regional fronts, law and justice, finance, industry and commerce, water resources and health departments, respectively. Sharma will head publicity department.
Likewise, politburo members Lekhraj Bhatta, Hisila Yami, Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma and Pampha Bhusal are chiefs of labor and transportation, environment and tourism, dalit and women departments, respectively. Politburo members Lokendra Bista Magar, Agni Sapkota, Ninu Chapagain and Haribol Gajurel have been nominated as chiefs of agriculture and cooperative, education, culture and land reform departments.
The meeting also directed all its leaders to hand over the vehicles they are using to the party headquarters and People´s Liberation Army (PLA) Commanders to to their respective cantonments by next week.
The meeting also decided to stage protests if Nepali Congress and CPN-UML failed to address their concern over civilian supremacy by Tihar.
Meanwhile, the Maoist party also decided to hold tea party on October 20 to mark Dashain, Tihar, Ramjan and Chhat festivals.
