KATHMANDU, March 30: The CPN-UML continued its protests against the government on Monday, holding demonstrations at Maitighar in Kathmandu over the arrest of party Chair KP Sharma Oli.

The party claims Oli was arrested unlawfully as a form of political retaliation and has vowed to continue its movement. The protests are being led by UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet.

Basnet also accused the current government of acting in an authoritarian manner. The UML has been holding regular demonstrations since Saturday, the day Oli was detained.

The Prime Minister Balendra Shah administration arrested Oli and former Minister for Home Ramesh Lekhak on Saturday following recommendations from the Gauri Bahadur Karki probe commission, which investigated the incidents of the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9.
