KATHMANDU, Dec 14: Amid mounting pressure from leaders of the Madhes based parties, the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has started to review the progress on issues raised in the four-point agreement, the basis of the present coalition.

At a meeting of the UDMF on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs (MoHA) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, who is also the chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D), told leaders that there would be concrete progress in the four-point agreement by Monday. [break]

“There will be concrete progress as the prime minister has assured us that a cabinet meeting on Monday will address the Madhesi issues,” General Secretary of MPRF-R Atmaram Sah quoted Gachchhadar as saying.

According to Sah, UDMF will hold further discussions on Madhesi issues on Friday.

UDMF leaders are not satisfied with Gachchhadar´s performance in the government. They have accused Gachchhadar of not taking initiatives to implement the four-point deal.

At a meeting with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday, top Madhesi leaders had warned the Maoist leadership that the present government would be in trouble if the four-point agreement is not implemented.
