The meeting of the two parties, held at the residence of NC President Sushil Koirala in Maharajgunj on Wednesday, also decided to call a meeting of the high level political committee to instruct the government to name the election date soon. [break]
"We will soon call the dissident parties for talks separately and jointly," said Posta Bahadur Bogati, general secretary of the UCPN (Maoist). Bogati informed that the parties would hold bilateral discussions with the major political parties and later hold multilateral discussions to create an environment for CA elections.
The same day, the 33-party alliance led by the CPN-Maoist announced a struggle program for Wednesday. The alliance is scheduled to encircle the president´s residence on Thursday, torch an effigy of the government at Ratna Park on Friday, hold a torch rally on Saturday with the support of 13 student wings, call a Nepal band on Sunday and obstruct the collection of voter names.
NC leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, who also participated in the meeting, said the parties will hold discussions with the agitating forces and reach a decision about holding the election.
"If the parties fail to forge a consensus, the government should move ahead on its own way", added Mahat.
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai and General Secretary Bogati participated in the meeting from the Maoist side. NC President Koirala, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and leader Mahat participated from that party.
