Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) organized three-day folk art training with the aim to encourage ethnic communities of Jhapa, including Rajbanshi and Santhal. The workshop concluded on Thursday.
The Department of Folk Arts at NAFA trained the participants and discussed about historical as well as cultural importance of traditional folk art, along with its impact.

Young participants at the event seemed excited to learn about their history and the glory of their traditional art. Talking about the training, event coordinator Dr Tank Upreti shared, “The main objective of this event is to promote and conserve the traditional folk art of ethnic communities like Rajbanshi and Santhal. Both these ethnic groups have a glorious history that shows the harmony amid diversity in Nepal. And we have tried to inform youths about the importance of folk art by including them in our program.”
HOD at the Department of Folk Arts, Subodh Chandra Das along with artist duo Chiten Sherpa and Saroj Khadgi gave the training to 25 participants.
