TNFF calls for film submissions

KATHMANDU,Oct 26: Aiming to promote Nepal’s rapidly emerging and independent filmmaking industry and to create a platform for the exchange of dialogue between filmmakers and the audience, Toronto Nepali Film Festival (TNFF) is now accepting submission for its 5th annual festival to be held on March 22, 2014, state the press release issued by the organizing committee. The submission deadline is November 15, 2013.



TNFF accepts Nepali films of all genres and lengths with English subtitles. The films will be selected by a three-member jury, namely Paul Lee, a filmmaker and programmer based in Toronto, Deepak Rauniyar, a Nepali filmmaker based in New York City and Kathmandu, and Haema [break]



Sivanesan, the Executive Director at Center A (Vancouver International Center for Contemporary Asian Art) in Vancouver, considering the relevant Nepali narratives, methods of storytelling, new genres in the context of Nepali filmmaking, technical finesse, and other attributes of filmmaking.



All films screened in the festival will be paid an honorarium of up to CAD$200, depending on the length of the film. Audience Choice and Jury Choice award will also be presented, carrying a monetary value of CAD$1000 and $500 respectively.
