KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Ekadeshma International Short Film Festival 2016 has opened submissions for both Nepali and international short films. In its fourth edition, the festival will take place in Kathmandu from November 11 to November 13 at QFX Cinemas Kumari.

Fiction, documentary and animation shorts under 30 minutes length are eligible for submission, the organizers said in an official statement released on Sunday.

Submission form and regulations for the festival is available on the festival’s official website ‘ekadeshma.org’. This year the shortlisted films will be screened under a competitive and an uncompetitive category.

According to the organizers, this year the festival will follow the tagline “and life goes on” to celebrate Nepal’s spirit of never letting go. The organizers have also said that this year’s festival will pay tribute to the late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

Ekadeshma is one of the premium Nepali film festivals and has showcased over 140 films from more than 60 countries in its past three editions. Nepali filmmakers like Min Bahadur Bham, Subarna Thapa, Bibhusan Basnet and Pooja Gurung have screened their short films in the festival.

Last year the festival was called off due to the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
