Tipper crash in Palpa leaves four, including driver, dead

KATHMANDU, March 22: A tipper accident in Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-7 of Palpa on Saturday evening has left four people dead, including the driver.

The death toll rose after 33-year-old Rajan Chidi of Tansen Municipality-10, who was seriously injured, died during treatment, according to DSP Hom Prakash Chaudhary, information officer at the District Police Office, Palpa.


Earlier, the driver, 26-year-old Chinta Bahadur Sunar of Sitganga Municipality-4 in Arghakhanchi, along with 26-year-old Sunil BK from the same area and 26-year-old Sunil Nepali of Devdaha Municipality-2 in Rupandehi, had died.


The tipper, bearing registration number Lu 2 Kha 4525, was heading toward a limestone mine in Rahabas when it veered off the road and plunged about 100 meters down.


Three of the victims were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Chidi died later during treatment in Bhairahawa.
