KAVREPALANCHOK, Nov 5: A tipper driver died after the vehicle skidded off the road and caught fire at Kodari cliff in Mandandeupur Municipality-6, Kavrepalanchok, on Tuesday morning.
According to the District Police Office, the tipper (Ba 5 Kha 4072) veered off the Helambu Highway and fell approximately 60 meters down the roadside slope, resulting in the death of its 28-year-old driver, Kisim Rai.
Driver injured as tipper plunges into Trishuli
Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson Rabin Bista said the driver, a resident of Mandandeupur-7, Jhagarpu, was found burnt in the driver’s seat. The vehicle’s 22-year-old assistant driver, Bikram Rai of the same ward, sustained severe injuries in the incident.
Police said the injured Rai, who suffered burns on several parts of his body, has been taken to Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital for further treatment.
Further investigation into the cause of the accident and the subsequent fire is underway, police said.
