The forgoing are the educational similarities found in the candidates fielded by the three major political parties--UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML-- for constituency number 3 in the district. [break]
NC candidate Tara Nath Dahal, UML candidate Sher Bahadur Tamang and UCPN (Maoist) candidate Bil Bahadur Rayamajhi completed their schooling the same year. Dahal, Tamang and Rayamajhi were all top students in their batches, and secured second divine marks in the SLC. Despite these similarities, they have been floating different agendas to woo voters in the upcoming Constitution Assembly election.
“The similarities among us should be taken as a happy coincidence,” said NC candidate Dahal, who used to be top boy in his class at Aiselikharka Secondary School. Rayamajhi and Tamang have one more similarity still--they are from the same VDC, Sindhukot.
UML candidate Tamang was a topper at Saraswati Secondary School in Mahakal while Rayamajhi used to top his class at Sindhupurana Gaun Secondary School.
Former president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Dahal was a law student in college and switched to politics after making his name in journalism. Tamang, who was active in politics from his student days, found his place in the party through student politics. On the other hand, Rayamajhi embarked on his political journey after he went underground during the insurgency, abandoning a 20-year teaching career.
Similarities between the candidates do not stop there. All of them turned to politics after their active participation in the people´s movement in 1990. The were all student leaders then. Dahal and Rayamajhi are new faces in the poll competition while Tamang lost the last CA election from the same constituency.
