Three drown; 3 dead in other incidents

JHAPA, July 28: Two people, including a child, died of drowning in Jhapa on Wednesday.



Five-year-old Biswas Das Darji of Bahundangi-3, who went missing on Tuesday, was found dead in a pond near his house on Wednesday.



Similarly, 40-year-old Mudka Madi of Chandragadhi-1 drowned in the Deuniya River on Wednesday afternoon.



Meanwhile, a youth has gone missing after drowning in the Aandhi River at Bhumre in Waling-1, Syangja on Wednesday afternoon.



Om Bahadur Rana, 19, of Hunmin, Palpa drowned in the river while swimming, police said. Rana was working as a daily wage laborer in Waling Bazaar of Syangja.



Police and locals are searching for Rana. Police Inspector Rajendra Shrestha said increased water level and murky waters have made their search operation difficult.



Meanwhile, a person was electrocuted in Kawasoti of Nawalparasi on Wednesday. Birendra Mukhiya (35) of Rautahat died while working at an under-construction house at Thakalichowk, the police said.



In Surkhet, Nar Bahadur Gotame, a Kathmandu resident, died of drug overdose on Wednesday. Police estimate that there are around 500 drug addicts in Surkhet.



In Mahottari, a person died after consuming poison. Sushil Sada, 50, of Ramgopalpur VDC-6, died while undergoing treatment after he consumed poison following a domestic feud, the police said.
